Matthew 8:14-17 (ESV)

And when Jesus entered Peter’s house, He saw His mother-in-law lying sick with a fever.  He touched her hand, and the fever left her, and she rose and began to serve Him.  That evening they brought to Him many who were oppressed by demons, and He cast out the spirits with a word and healed all who were sick.  This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah. “He took our illnesses and bore our diseases.”

Before the New Year began, I decided to choose a word for my year.  A single word to claim what God is calling me to in 2019.  After searching for just the right word with no success, I put that idea to the side and I didn’t think any more about it.  A few days later, as I drove down Lakeland Drive, the tag on a car in front of me read ENOUGH.

That’s it!  ENOUGH!  That’s my word.  HE is ENOUGH.

When I read this scripture, I’m reminded that Jesus is enough.  He healed Peter’s mother-in-law with a touch.  He cast out spirits with a word.  He healed all who were sick.  Just as Jesus was all that was needed on that day in Peter’s house, He is all we need today.  Just as He walked into Peter’s house, He desires to walk in our life each day.

He is ENOUGH to cover our every need.

Philippians 4:19 - “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

He is ENOUGH when we need peace.

Philippians 4:7 - “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

He is ENOUGH when we are weak.

Psalm 28:7 - “The Lord is my strength and my shield, in Him my heart trusts, and I am helped; my heart exults; and with my song I give thanks to Him.”

He is ENOUGH when weariness is heavy.

Matthew 11:28 - “ Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Whatever our need is, His Word provides promise after promise that He is ENOUGH.  He wants us to live in complete freedom, restoration and wholeness, which only He alone can provide.

Someone opened the door at Peter’s house for Jesus to enter on the day He healed with a touch and cast out spirits with a word.  Is our door open for Him to meet our needs?  He is ENOUGH!
