Sermon: Will God Come Through, Part 1
Will God Come Through: Week 1
When I Feel Inadequate?
Have you ever felt that you’re in over your head? That the situation is too big for you? Perhaps you’ve doubted you were up to the task or weren’t certain if you had what it takes to do the job well or overcome the obstacle in front of you? At the beginning of 1 Kings, King David was about to die and pass his throne to his son Solomon, who has many doubts about his ability as a king. His father though, had great words of wisdom for him.
1. Read 1 Kings 2:2-3
“I am about to go the way of all the earth. Be strong, and show yourself a man, and keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in His ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn…”
2. Discussion Questions:
From this passage, what is the most important thing to remind ourselves of?
How can we “keep charge” of God?
What are the things that make this hard to do?
As a group, how can we encourage one another to pursue the Lord first and remind ourselves that God is there when we feel inadequate?
Think of the things you feel most inadequate for. What causes you to feel that way? Do those feelings stem from an actual inability you have or rather from a mistrust of God? Discuss some ways that you would like to see the Lord work in these areas of your life. Then ask Him for help!
4. Commit to Memory:
“Keep the charge of the LORD your God, walking in His ways and keeping His statutes, His commandments, His rules and His testimonies…”
