Hispaniola Mountain Ministries is one of our mission partners here at Fondren Church. They focus on connecting the local community to the local church in the Dominican Republic and Haiti. They know the more they support the local church, the more God will work in and through that church to make disciples in their community. To accomplish this, HMM focuses on three main things: encouraging the LOCAL church and community, equipping the believers, and training the leaders. 

The primary focus for this trip is to build a home for a local Pastor and his family. Pastor Jeanikel is a humble and faithful follower of Jesus. For years he has been a faithful member of Pastor Mateo church and for years he has made the long trek up a mountain to preach God’s Word to Haitian Church in La Lanza. The trip would take the entire day as it was several thousand feet up the mountain and a long hike. He has given his life to ministry, yet he and his family live in extreme hardship. Currently, Jeanikel rents a small one room home with aluminum walls and a decaying metal roof. The area where he lives is known for housing many Haitians without papers, making it a frequent target for raids. Recently, immigration officers kicked in his door, destroying his property including his TV and stove. This is not the first time his home has been ransacked, and won’t be the last. Alongside Pastor Mateo, HMM, our church has the opportunity to change this. By raising funds with the Crawfish Boil, we can help bring a lasting solution - stability, safety, and a foundation for future ministry. This is more than a house though, it’s a testimony of God’s faithfulness. Together we can partner with the church in Polo to make this dream a reality and completely change the trajectory of Jeanikel and his family.
